Herbststimmung // Fall Mood
Ich bin so eine Person, die viele Dinge in ihrem Leben den Jahreszeiten zuordnet und ich meine damit nicht nur Klamotten (was ja offensichtlich ist), sondern auch Musik, Bücher, Filme und Serien. Im April habe ich einen Blogbeitrag zu meinen Frühlingsgefühlen-Faves geschrieben und hatte daran sehr viel Freude, deswegen dachte ich es ist Zeit für einen Herbst Vibes Favourites Post. Also los geht’s!
I’m the kind of weird person you categorises a lot of stuff by the seasons, and I don’t mean just clothes (that’s an obvious one), but also music, books, films or series. In April I wrote a Spring Fever Faves blogpost about some sexy and/or romantic things to watch or read in spring. And because I really enjoyed writing that one, I thought we could do a little Autumn Vibe Favourites post. So let’s get to it!
YOUNG ROYALS
Wir haben alle sehr lange auf die neue Staffel für Wille und Simon warten müssen. Und in zwei Wochen ist es endlich soweit und die zweite Staffel von Young Royals kommt raus. Ich weiß nicht warum Leute (und der Netflix Algorithmus) immer meinen man könnte Young Royals mit Heartstopper vergleichen, denn die beiden Serien haben komplett unterschiedliche Vibes. Heartstopper is die süße, glückliche, schwule Liebesgeschichte für einen milden Frühlingsabend. Aber Young Royals ist die perfekte trübselige, herzzerreißende, hoffnungslose Romanze für einen verregneten Herbsttag. Also bereitet euch lieber schonmal mental auf den 1. November vor!
We’ve been waiting for a second season about Wille and Simon for a long time. And in two weeks it’s finally time for season 2 of Young Royals. I don’t know why people (and the Netflix algorithm, too) think you can compare Young Royals to Heartstopper, because they are a completely different vibe. Heartstopper is the cute, happy gay love story for a nice spring evening, but Young Royals is the gloomy, heart-breaking, hopeless gay romance you want to watch on a rainy autumn day. So you better get ready for November 1st!
GILMORE GIRLS
Okay, das hier ist eine sehr offensichtliche Wahl. Ich glaube das ganze Internet ist sich einige, dass Gilmore Girls DIE Serie ist, die mensch anschaut wenn der Herbst beginnt. Seit September sind meine Newsfeeds mit Gilmore Girls Inhalten geflutet und das ist mehr als okay für mich. Was gibt es besseres als in eine Decke gewickelt, mit Tee und Snacks, an einem kalten Herbstnachmittag eine 00-Jahre-Serie zu binge-watchen? Gilmore Girls ist wirklich ein Herbst-Klassiker!
Okay, this is an obvious one. I think the whole internet agrees that Gilmore Girls is THE series to watch when autumn arrives. Ever since September my newsfeeds have been flooded by the show and honestly, I am not mad about it. What’s not to love about a naughties-series-binge-watch, cuddled up on the sofa or in bed with a tea and snacks on a cold, autumn afternoon? I mean, Gilmore Girls is truly an autumn classic!
WEDNESDAY ADDAMS
Der Herbst ist auch die gruselige Jahreszeit für Halloween und Horrorfilme (zumindest für die, die nicht so Angsthasen sind wie ich). Tim Burton ist ja bekanntlich ein Gott des Horrors und Gothic Genre und bald kommt auf Netflix seine neue Serie über die Addams-Familie, genauer gesagt über Wednesday Addams, und der Trailer sieht schon sehr düster, gruselig und vielversprechend aus! Obwohl ich Horror wirklich gar nicht mag, weil meine Gruselschwelle praktisch nicht existent ist, bin ich ernsthaft versucht, diese Serie anzugucken wenn sie im November verfügbar ist!
Autumn is also the season for scary things, Halloween and probably horror movies (if you aren’t such a wimp as I am). Tim Burton is obviously a god when it comes to horror and gothic movies and Netflix is now releasing his series about the Addams family, specifically about Wednesday Addams and the trailer already looks gloomy, spooky and more than promising for fall! Even though I really don’t like horror and find almost everything scary, I am more than tempted to give this one a watch when it comes out in November as well!
Weiter ihm Texte geht es nun mit Buchempfehlungen für den Herbst! Es gibt ja kaum was besseres als sich an kühlen, regnerischen Tagen aufs Sofa zu kuscheln und seine Nase in ein Buch zu stecken. Also habe ich auch zwei Buchempfehlungen für Dich, die meiner Meinung nach ziemlich gut in den Herbst passen:
Moving on from stuff to watch during fall, let me suggest some books to read! There is nothing better than curling up in a blanket while it’s cold and rainy outside and stick your nose into a good book. So here are two books I picked that give me autumn vibes:
CEMETERY BOYS
Dieses Buch ist das Herbst-Komplettpaket und MUSS daher hier erwähnt werden! Yadriel & Julian von Aiden Thomas hat nicht nur einen trans Latino Protagonisten, sonder er ist noch dazu auch noch ein Brujo, wohnt auf einem Friedhof und beschwört einen Geist herauf. Es geht gar nicht herbstlicher, wenn Du mich fragst. Es ist ein wirklich gut geschriebenes Buch mit einer Halloween-Vibes-Story die mich total gefesselt hat. Wir haben außerdem vor längerer Zeit in meinem Buchclub über dieses Buch gesprochen und konnten kaum etwas dazu sagen (wir mögen’s lieber wenn wir auch meckern können), weil wir es alle einfach super gut fanden. Noch dazu ist die queere Repräsentation in diesem Buch so gut und so wichtig, egal zu welcher Jahreszeit!
I mean, this book is the full autumn package and therefore MUST be featured here! Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas does not only have a transgender Latino main character, but he also happens to be a brujo, lives on a cemetery, and summons a ghost. It doesn’t get more autumn-y than that, if you ask me. It’s a really well written, Halloween-vibes story that absolutely glued me to the book. We also discussed it in Reading Group and because we all just enjoyed it so much, there wasn’t a lot to say (we just love to bitch about a book, you know). Plus the queer representation in this book is so good and so needed, no matter the season!
all about love
Vielleicht wollte ich dieses Buch hier nur erwähnen, weil es eins der letzten ist was ich gelesen haben. Aber vielleicht ist jede’r im Internet auch so sehr damit beschäftigt den Herbst zu romantisieren, dass ich dachte es ist auch die Jahreszeit, wo mensch mal ein bisschen emotionale Arbeit leisten kann. Der Frühling ist die Zeit für Frühlingsgefühle und Schmetterlinge, aber im Herbst setzt mensch sich hin und liest alles über liebe vonbell hooks um wirklich zu lernen wie aus Liebe ein Verb wird und nicht nur ein Substantiv, und wie mensch an sich arbeiten kann. Ich fand dieses Buch wirklich unbeschreiblich gut und denke, dass es mir in vielerlei Hinsicht die Augen geöffnet hat und guten Lesestoff für trübe Herbsttage liefert, an denen mensch sich etwas emotional und intellektuell herausfordern möchte.
Maybe I just felt like adding this book to the list because it’s one of the most recent ones I’ve read. But maybe everyone on the internet is romanticising autumn so much that I just feel like it’s the season to put in the work. You know, like in spring you give in to your spring fever and butterflies, but in autumn you sit down and read all about love by bell hooks to actually learn how to turn love into a verb instead of a noun and work on yourself. I absolutely adored this book and think it’s truly eye-opening and world-shaking and perfect to read on a gloomy autumn day when you feel like you want to challenge yourself.
Zum Abschluss möchte ich noch unbedingt über Herbstmusik sprechen, insbesondere über Fever Ray, DIE ultimative Herbstmusik. Und nun gibt es das erste Mal seit dem letzten Album einen neuen Song, der absolut perfekt für den Herbst ist, so wie jedes Album von Fever Ray. What They Call Us ist mein Herbst-Soundtrack und ich hoffe inständig, dass wir bald ein neues Album erwarten können!
Last but not least I want to talk about some autumn music, specifically Fever Ray, THE ultimate autumn musician. We finally got a new single after years and years and the new song is absolutely perfect for this season, just like all of Fever Ray’s albums, honestly. What They Call Us is my autumn soundtrack and I pray, pray, pray that we will soon get a new album!
