Abgesehen von meiner totalen Heartstopper OBSESSION, meiner unsterblichen Liebe für Young Royals und der Begeisterung für Wednesday, die ich in vergangen Blogposts und übers Jahr hinweg in meinem monatlichen Newsletter ausgelebt/mitgeteilt habe, habe ich tatsächlich auch noch ein paar andere Serien und Filme gesehen, die mein 2022 geprägt haben. Hier eine kleine aber feine Auswahl:
Apart from my absolute OBSESSION with Heartstopper, my undying love for Young Royals, and excitement over Wednesday, which I have all gushed over in previous blogposts or in my monthly newsletter throughout the past year, I actually managed to watch other series and films that shaped my 2022. Here is a small but nice selections of my faves:
I. DAREDEVIL
Daredevil ist natürlich nichts neues, denn die Serie ist ja schon 2015 rausgekommen und auch damals hab ich sie schon super gerne geschaut. Aber die Tatsache, dass ich zu Beginn des Jahres 2022 noch meinen Freiwilligendienst gemacht habe und in der Zeit bei meinem Papa gewohnt habe, hat dazu geführt, dass ich händeringend auf der Suche nach einer Serie war, die wir abends nach der Arbeit gemeinsam schauen konnten. So habe ich Daredevil und das gesamte Netflix-Marvel-Universum für mich (wieder)entdeckt. Ich finde Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil den glaubhaftesten Superhelden, Wilson Fisk ist einer der fiesesten Antihelden den ich kenne und die Serie ist einfach ganz, ganz großartig gemacht. Mein Papa hat sich auch sehr begeistern lassen, denn es fällt schwer Matt Murdock, blinder Anwalt bei Tag und gepeinigter Superheld bei Nacht, nicht zu lieben.
Leider wurden alle Marvel-Serien Ende Februar 2022 von Netflix genommen, grade als ich es zur Hälfte durch das Netflix-Marvel-Universum mit Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, The Punisher und The Defenders geschafft hatte… Soweit ich weiß, kann man die Serien aber jetzt auf Disney+ gucken und das wollte ich mir dieses Jahr sowieso anschaffen um Percy Jackson und Doctor Who zu gucken.

Daredevil is obviously old news since the series has been around since 2015, but I was already obsessed with it back in the day. What made me re-watch it in the beginning of the year was the fact that at the time I was still doing my full-time library job and living with my dad for that time, so I was desperate to find stuff we could watch together and both enjoy. That’s when I remembered Daredevil and got really invested in it and the whole small Netflix-Marvel Universe. I personally think that Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil is the most believable super hero out there, Wilson Fisk is one of the meanest antiheroes out there and the show all in all is such a masterpiece. My dad also hopped on the train, because it’s really hard not to like Matt Murdock, blind lawyer by day and tortured superhero by night.
Sadly the whole Netflix-Marvel Universe was taking off of Netflix at the end of February 2022, just when I made it half way through Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron First, Jessica Jones, The Punisher and The Defenders, watching it in the correct order and all… As far as I know you can now find all those shows on Disney+, which I’m planning on getting this year so that I can watch the new Percy Jackson series and Doctor Who.

II. Do Revenge
Eigentlich hab ich Do Revenge zunächst nur auf meine Liste gesetzt, weil ich Maya Hawke mal außerhalb von Stranger Things erleben wollte. Und oh man, es hat sich gelohnt. In dem Film geht es um zwei Teenager Mädels, die sich zusammentun um Rache zu üben an den Menschen, die sie an ihrer Eliteschule zu Outsidern gemacht haben. Die Intrigen werden immer extremer, beide Hauptcharaktere (und ihre Rival*innen) immer weniger sympathisch und alles eskaliert. Do Revenge hat eine ganz eigene, pastelfarbene Ästhetik, die ich so nicht aus Teenage Dramas kenne, aber umso faszinierender, überspitzt und großartiger fand. Absolute Empfehlung für einen Filmabend mit Freund*innen!
I mainly put Do Revenge on my watchlist because I was curious to see Maya Hawke in a setting outside of Stranger Things. And boy, oh boy, it was worth it. In this film two teenage girls gang up to seek vengeance and harm the people who have harmed them and turned them into outsiders at their elite high school. Their schemes become more and more extreme, both main characters (and their rivals) become less and less likeable and everything completely escalates. Do Revenge has its very own, pastel coloured aesthetic; one that I’ve never seen in any teenage drama before, which made it even more fascinating, exaggerating and brilliant. Absolutely recommend this one for a movie night with friends!
III. HEARTBREAK HIGH
2022 war wirklich das Jahr des Teenage Drama für mich und meine Watchlist. Da reiht sich Heartbreak High sehr gut ein. Es geht um die besten Freundinnen Amerie und Harper, die gemeinsam eine Liste/Karte erstellt haben, wer auf ihrer Schule mit wem rumgemacht oder geschlafen hat etc. Doch nach einem gemeinsamen Festivalwochenende geht Harper Amerie auf einmal aus dem Weg und ihre Liste/Karte wird vom Hausmeister der Schule entdeckt und ein Skandal bricht aus. Alle die namentlich auf der Karte sind, werden gezwungen an einem extra Sexualunterricht teilzunehmen, Amerie wird von allen gehasst, während sie versucht herauszufinden, warum ihre beste Freundin plötzlich nichts mehr mit ihr zu tun haben will. Natürlich geht es nebenbei auch die ganze Zeit darum, wer mit wem und wann und wo…
Ich finde, Heartbreak High bringt ein ganz großartiges, diverses Ensemble zusammen und während sich die Handlung weiterspinnt und die unterschiedlichen Storylines entwirrt und neu zusammengesetzt werden, wird mensch mitgerissen. Habe es sehr gerne geschaut, fand die Auflösung des Konflikts sehr gut, die Charaktere sehr großartig und bin gespannt, was die zweite Staffel so zu bieten haben wird!
Ich finde, Heartbreak High bringt ein ganz großartiges, diverses Ensemble zusammen und während sich die Handlung weiterspinnt und die unterschiedlichen Storylines entwirrt und neu zusammengesetzt werden, wird mensch mitgerissen. Habe es sehr gerne geschaut, fand die Auflösung des Konflikts sehr gut, die Charaktere sehr großartig und bin gespannt, was die zweite Staffel so zu bieten haben wird!
2022 was the year of teenage drama for me and my watchlist. Heartbreak High just perfectly fits that profile. It’s about the two best friends Amerie and Harper, who have drawn a map at their school that shows who has made out, slept with, or crushed on whom. But after a festival weekend together, Harper starts avoiding Amerie and their map is discovered by their schools janitor – a scandal waiting to happen. Everyone whose name is on the map has to do an extra sex ed class and they all hate Amerie because she admits to have drawn the map. She tries finding out why her best friend wants nothing to do with her all of a sudden. But obviously, apart from their friendship drama, it’s also always about the other kids and who makes out, sleeps with or crushes on whom…
I think Heartbreak High manages to bring together a really great, diverse ensemble and while the story unfolds and different storylines start to unravel themselves, you really get invested. I really enjoyed watching this, loved the plot twists and thought the resolution to Amerie’s and Harper’s conflict was super well done; plus the characters are all together amazing and I am really looking forward to what the second season has in store for us!
