Wer kennt es nicht? Supermodels posen am Strand oder im klinisch-sauberen Badezimmer um sich die absolut haarlosen und retuschierten Achseln oder Beine zu rasieren. Soll noch eine*r sagen, Werbung wäre nicht klischeebehaftet, unrealistisch und sexistisch. Genau durch sowas entstehen gefährliche Schönheitsideale und Vorstellung von babyglatten, weiblich gelesenen Personen und ihren Körpern. Körperbehaarung wird als hässlich abgestempelt; etwas, was mensch als Gedanke dringend verlernen muss, am besten für immer. Auch ich bin diesem Denken lange zum Opfer gefallen – habe viel zu früh angefangen mich zu rasieren, eine Behandlung zur dauerhaften Haarentfernung gemacht (Spoiler: ohne Erfolg!) und habe es schlussendlich einfach aufgegeben dem gesellschaftlichen Standard gerecht werden zu wollen. Seit etwa drei Jahren habe ich meine Körperbehaarung lieben gelernt, oder zumindest lasse ich mich davon nicht mehr stören. Rasieren tu ich mich nur noch sehr selten, weshalb ich nicht mehr eingesehen habe, überteuerte Plastikrasierer und Klingen zu kaufen.

No one can tell me that the world of advertisement isn’t full of clichés, unrealistic expectations and sexism. That’s exactly how dangerous beauty standards are manifested and female presenting people and their bodies are expected to be as hairless as babies. Body hair is seen as disgusting; something we have to unlearn asap, seriously. For the longest time I myself fell victim to this kind of thinking – I started shaving when I was literally still a child, started treatment for permanent hair removal as an adult (spoiler alert: it didn’t work!), and finally gave up on trying to live up to the horrible expectations society sets for female presenting people and their bodies. For about three years now I have started to embrace my body hair, or at least I don’t make such a big fuzz about it anymore. I only ever shave when I have the time and energy and feel like it, which is why I didn’t see the point in paying for expensive plastic razors and blades.

Der Rasierer ist aus Stahl und dadurch nicht nur robuster sondern liegt auch ganz anders und besser in der Hand als ein herkömmlicher Rasierer. Es gibt ihn in fünf schönen Farben, die sich nicht nur auf pink und rosa beschränken. Ich hab das lilafarbenen “space“ Modell gewählt und bin super happy damit. Dazu bekommst Du eine Halterung und wenn Du möchtest auch ein schickes Reisetäschchen. Ich war auf jeden Fall sofort überzeugt! Auch die schöne Paketverpackung mit frechen Sprüchen wie “Mood: Leave me alone. Seriously, I’ve been waiting for this.“ oder “If it’s textable, please don’t call me! Thanks.“ hat es mir angetan. Ich lieb’s. Das alles kriegst Du für schlappe 9,95€ pro Lieferung! Soviel zahle ich im Laden normalerweise für weniger nachhaltige, schneller verbrauchte Klingen, ohne Rasierer dazu. Wie kann mensch da nicht begeistert sein?

You can choose from five different colours that aren’t just different shades of pink. I chose the lilac “space“ colour and I’m very happy with my choice. You will also get a wall holder and, if you want to, a little bag for your razor for travelling. Not just the products, but the packaging that it arrives in is amazing. The delivery is paired with cheeky quotes like “Mood: Leave me alone. Seriously… I’ve been waiting for this.“ or “If it’s textable, please don’t call me. Thanks.“ It was love at first sight for me. And all of this only costs your 9,95€! That’s much less than what I used to pay for low-quality, less sustainable blades, not even including a razor. So what’s not to like?
By the way, something that will cost you literally zero dollars is following estrid on Instagram, which is absolutely worth it. Rarely have I come across such a chill and funny online presence of a company. Plus, they regularly repost their happy costumers and hype them up, which is so cute.
